Dromore senior and reserve teams opened their 2013 league programmes with victories over Clonoe this evening at Gardrum Park , the reserves winning 5.5 to 0.6 , with the seniors winning 0.11, to 0.10.
The seniors , fielding 4 players from last seasons u21 championship winning team , and Ronan McNabb for his first game in 2013, were in front 0.6, to 0.3 at half time with 3 points from Ruairi Sludden , 2 from Eoin McCusker , and 1 from Barry Collins, their first half scorers. The second half produced a contest of championship intensity with Tyrone management Mickey Harte and Tony Donnelly among the large attendance which enjoyed the contest .
Clonoe who won the league in 2012, edged back into contention with 2 fine points from county star Conor McAliskey in the 7th and 8th minutes , with Niall Sludden edging Dromore 7 to 5 ahead with a point in the 11th minute ,a score which the visitors nullified instantly with a point from 40 metres out in the 12 min from Stephen McNulty . The Clonoe score was replied to with a point from intercounty star Ronan McNabb after 13 minutes, with Clonoe responding in kind with aPaul Coney point after 14 minutes to leave Dromore 1 ahead 8 to 7 . Further Dromore points from Colm McCullagh ,and an Eoin McCusker free saw Dromore extend their advantage to 3 points after 16 mins but still the visitors refused to throw in the towel and with points from McAliskey and Collie Doris , they had reduced the deficit to 10 points to 9, with 12 mins remaining .Scores remained unchanged for a further 7 mins before the visitors gained parity with an equaliser from Conor Mc Aliskey with a free after 25 minutes , however their was to be their last score , with Dromore grabbing a sensational winner in the 33th minute with a superb 30 metre free from Eoin McCusker , to secure an excellent 0.11 to 0.10 win
